Everton have long been linked with a move for Gabriel Magalhaes and came close to procuring his signature earlier in the season when a deal was agreed with LOSC Lille, but the Toffees could now miss out on the 22-year-old with Sky Italia revealing that Napoli are willing to match his €25m asking price.
Gabriel joined Lille for £2.7m Avai FC in 2017 and has gone on to make 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. He’s been a regular at centre-back this season, playing in 34 of a possible 40 games across the board, and has impressed enough to attract interest from multiple clubs.
Chelsea looked set to bring Gabriel to England previously and now Fichajes (h/t Sportsmole) are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur could hijack the deal. Everton’s hopes of signing the Brazilian are dwindling, so they may have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
Carlo Ancelotti is said to have Mohammed Salisu, Wesley Fofana, Thiago Silva, Jean-Clair Todibo, Kalidou Koulibaly, Thiago Silva, Gabriel Magalhaes, Marash Kumbulla, Christian Luyindama, Issa Diop and Tosin Adarabioyo on his radar, so Everton have other options if they can’t land their top target.
