Report: Everton ‘contact’ 33 y/o’s ‘agent’ but Marcel Brands ‘would like other’ targets

|

According to ArenaNapoli, José Callejón ‘agent contacts with Everton’ but Marcel Brands ‘would like other’ targets this summer. The 33-year-old could be on the move from Napoli as his contract is up in the coming months, but his next destination may not be Everton.

The Toffees have Richarlison, Bernard, Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi at their disposal, but Carlo Ancelotti may be looking to sell two of the quartet this summer. Walcott may be available for sale after underperforming this season and Bernard may follow.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Callejon has made 336 appearances in all competitions since joining Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013, scoring 80 goals and making 77 assists. The Spanish international has made 32 appearances across the board this season, scoring two goals and making nine assists.

Aurelio De Laurentiis hasn’t matched Callejon’s demands to keep him at the Stadio San Paolo, so he could be ended a seven-year stay in Italy – Spain, England and the MLS are options for the wide-man, but it remains to be seen where he’ll end up.

Everton could benefit from a winger if Walcott and Bernard are sold, but they have their sights set on Everton Soares, Rafa Silva, Jack Grealish, Cengiz Under, Philippe Coutinho and Jesse Lingard rather than Callejon now.
