Report: Everton ‘chasing’ 25 y/o winger, manager admits club ‘may have to sell’

According to the Sunday Mirror, Everton are ‘chasing’ Denis Bouanga and may have to battle a number of clubs to procure his signature.

The 25-year-old plays for AS Saint-Etienne and is coming off the back of a prolific campaign in Ligue 1, but his manager Claude Puel has admitted the club ‘may have to sell’ this summer.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Everton aren’t short of wide players with Theo Walcott, Bernard, Richarlison and Alex Iwobi at their disposal, but Walcott has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park after a disappointing season while Bernard has been offered out to AS Roma.

The Toffees have been linked with Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho, Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and AS Roma’s Cengiz Under among other wingers, but Bouanga may be the pick of the bunch. He bagged more goals than Angel Di Maria, Dimitri Payet and Islam Slimani in Ligue 1 and is rated at £8m, so Everton could be landing themselves a bargain.

The Gabon international joined St Etienne for £4m from Nimes Olympique last summer and has gone on to make 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and making five assists. Bouanga has made a big impact at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, but he could be on the move less than a year after arriving.
