Report: Everton accept bid for youngster

According to Pete O’Rourke of the Football Insider, Everton have accepted a £2m bid from Wigan Athletic for Antonee Robinson. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with the Latics and could be turning the deal permanent this summer.

Robinson has an uncertain future at Goodison Park after failing to make a single first-team appearance. The USA international rose through the youth ranks to the reserve side in 2015 and has since featured exclusively for the u23s – 27 appearances.

Due to a lack of opportunity at Everton, Robinson has been loaned out to Bolton Wanderers (August 4, 2017 – May 31, 2018) and Wigan (August 3, 2018 – May 31, 2019). He’s made 56 appearances in the Championship and could soon be plying his trade there on a regular basis.

With Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines ahead of Robinson in the pecking order, minutes in the first-team will always be scarce. It may speak volumes about his development that he only has Championship interest this summer too. Nevertheless, the left-back impressed at Wigan and will be their latest acquisition if personal terms can be agreed.

Everton have accepted the £2m bid and are happy to let the youngster leave to get first-team football.
