According to Adam Jones of the Liverpool Echo, Cuco Martina is ‘not part of’ Marco Silva’s plans and ‘could still leave’ Everton before the transfer window shuts at the end of August. The 29-year-old joined from Southampton in 2017 and has gone on to make 28 appearances in all competitions.

Martina doesn’t appear to have a future at Goodison Park, however, after struggling for form in his debut season and failing to feature since. His last outing in an Everton shirt was against Burnley on March 3, 2018. The Curacao international was in the matchday squad for games that followed, but Silva didn’t introduce him from the bench.

He spent 2018/19 on loan at Stoke City (August 17, 2018 – January 30, 2019) and Feyenoord (January 31, 2019 – June 30, 2019), but neither club deemed his performances good enough to make a bid to sign him permanently. Martina has been available for sale throughout the summer, but a lack of interest means he’s still at Goodison.

The Liverpool Echo say Everton are still open to selling him, but they will need some interest. It appears Martina’s poor form over the last 12 months may have put off suitors.
