Report: Defender could leave Everton

|

According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Yerry Mina could be on his way out of Everton this summer with Valencia keen on his signature. The Liga side are on the hunt for a central defender ahead of next season and have Mina on their shortlist. It remains to be seen whether Everton would let the 25-year-old leave, however, as they’re already lacking depth at the back.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Mina joined Everton from Barcelona in 2018 and has gone on to make 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals with one assist. The Colombian international has been a regular at Goodison Park, but he has recently lost his place in the starting lineup. Carlo Ancelotti has preferred Mason Holgate and Michael Keane.

Valencia are looking to strengthen at centre-back with Ezequiel Garay having confirmed his departure. Eliaquim Mangala and Hugo Guillamón have struggled for playing time this season too, featuring only 12 times in La Liga, so Valencia may need new players to accompany Gabriel Paulista and Mouctar Diakhaby.

It’s hard to see Mina leaving Everton due to the lack of options in his stead, so Ancelotti can’t afford to let him go unless he has replacements lined up.
