Report: Defender could leave Everton in January and is ‘an option for AC Milan’

|

According to Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness), Djibril Sidibe could cut his loan deal short at Everton and join AC Milan in January. The 27-year-old has struggled for playing time since his temporary switch from AS Monaco and could opt for a different club when the winter transfer window opens.

Under Marco Silva, Sidibe has made only three appearances in all competitions, just one of which has come in the Premier League. The French international is a versatile defender but finds himself behind Lucas Digne at left-back and Seamus Coleman at right-back.

Despite the lack of playing time, Silva still needs Sidibe in the squad to provide backup. Jonjo Kenny is on loan at Schalke 04, so Everton would have no cover for Coleman. But if the 27-year-old isn’t happy on Merseyside, he may force Everton’s hand to cancel the loan.

Milan are looking to capitalise on the situation as they’re keen to strengthen at right-back. The Rossoneri will be watching France’s international fixture with Turkey this evening, but Sidibe may not feature. Tuttosport also say there could be more clubs than Milan interested in January too.
