Report: Besiktas flying to England to ‘complete a deal’ for Everton striker

|

According to Sercan Dikme of Beyaz TV (h/t Futbol Arena), Besiktas are flying to England to ‘complete a deal’ for Oumar Niasse or Cenk Tosun. The Turkish Super Lig side are desperate for cover after Burak Yilmaz picked up an injury, but they’re currently undecided on which striker they’ll sign from Everton.

Tosun would seem the most obvious option given he’s scored and created 77 goals in 142 appearances for Besiktas, but Eintracht Frankfurt are also keen on his signature and could beat Besiktas to his signature. The 28-year-old is available for sale this summer after struggling for form and playing time at Everton.

Manager Abdullah Avci appears interested in making a move for Tosun despite him scoring just nine goals in 43 games for the Toffees. The Turkish international spent 2018/19 on the periphery and scored only four times in 29 matches – 11 of which came from the bench.

Niasse is also on the radar, but he’s being linked with Trabzonspor. Everton are willing to let both players leave before the overseas transfer window shuts if they can find suitors. Besiktas have shown interest in bringing Tosun back to the BJK Vodafone Park all summer, but they’re running out of time.
