Report: Besiktas director flying to England for talks over £23k-per-week Everton man

|

Ademola Lookman has an uncertain future at Everton after struggling for form and playing time in the last 12 months. The 21-year-old joined Everton from Charlton Athletic in January 2017 and has scored only four goals in 48 games. He’s expected to be moved on this summer, be that on loan or in the form of a permanent deal, and Besiktas are one club showing a keen interest.

According to Takvim (h/t Sport Witness), the Turkish Super Lig side will soon hold face-to-face talks with Everton over Lookman. Besiktas director Umut Guner is planning to fly to England to speak with the Toffees and negotiate financial details for the £23k-per-week forward. The report states that Besiktas are unwilling to pay a £1.34m loan fee, however.

Lookman spent half of last season on loan at RB Leipzig and contributed nine goals in 11 games. His form in Germany doesn’t appear to have been enough to convince Marco Silva of keeping him next season, however, so Lookman may have to impress again during his loan spell to try and convince the Everton boss that he can cut it in England.
