Report: Bad news for Everton with Real Madrid ‘keeping tabs’ on 20-year-old

|

According to AS, Real Madrid are ‘keeping tabs’ on Mohammed Salisu and are believed to have enquiries for the 20-year-old. Everton have been linked with a move for Salisu this season, but they may struggle to land the centre-back due to stiff competition from a number of clubs.

In addition to Real, AS say Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Valencia and Getafe are interested in Salisu too. The Ghanian defender was promoted to Real Valladolid’s first-team this season and has made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating two goals.

As per WhoScored, Salisu has racked up 2006 minutes of La Liga football, won 60 aerial duels (62.5%), averaged 36.2 passes-per-game with 80.3% accuracy, made nine successful dribbles (100%), blocked 25 passes/shots/crosses, made 119 clearances and averaged a tackle (32) or interception (25) every 35 minutes.

Everton have been in the market for a centre-back as they’ve only got Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate to choose from, but they may need to turn their attentions elsewhere. Salisu has an affordable release clause of £10m, but it’s hard to see the Toffees beating out so many big clubs to his signature.
