Report: 6ft Everton ace could leave Goodison after Toffees receive tempting bid

|

Antonee Robinson may have already worn the Royal Blue of Everton for the last time, as Football Insider understand the club are weighing up the defender’s future after receiving a tempting bid from Wigan Athletic.

The Milton Keynes-born left-back spent the recent campaign on loan with the Latics in the Championship, with whom he was able to enjoy regular football under Paul Cook following a term at Bolton Wanderers; where he found himself in and out of the Trotters’ line-up toward the end of the campaign.

It is not expected that the 21-year-old would be able to enjoy the same amount of first-team minutes if he were to now return to Merseyside, given Lucas Digne is the undisputed number one and Leighton Baines recently signed a new one-year contract.

Instead, club chiefs are said to be considering the 6ft defender’s future and may accept Wigan’s offer of £1.9million, although Marco Silva may favour sending Robinson out on loan again as he has another two years on his contract.

The boss sent Robinson out on loan last season as he had fears over his experience having never played a senior game for the Toffees, but the defender shared during the campaign that he hopes to be able to one day represent the club in the Premier League.

He left a lot to the imagination at the start of the moth while representing the United States against Jamaica, though, as he was hauled off after 80 minutes in a pre-Gold Cup friendly. It was a bad day for the USA as a whole, however, as Gregg Berhalter’s men were booed off the field at half-time during a dismal 1-0 defeat.
