Report: £25.2m-rated Everton man set to miss crucial game this weekend

|

Andre Gomes is set to miss a fourth game in a row for Everton after failing to recover from a rib injury.

As reported by The Liverpool Echo, the Portuguese international is expected to miss the Toffees crucial Premier League match against Manchester City this weekend.

Gomes picked up the injury during Everton’s last Premier League win of the season in a 3-2 result over Wolves on the 1st September, and although Marco Silva said last week via Royal Blue Mersey that the knock to the midfielder is not long-term and is a day-to-day situation, it is seemingly more than that with the former Barcelona man now set to miss a fourth game in a row.

And the playmaker’s absence has been felt hard in the Premier League, with Everton yet to win a single game with Gomes out through injury with the Toffees losing to both Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

This void in the midfield is likely going to be felt even harder on Saturday when Everton welcome Manchester City to Goodison Park, who last weekend won 8-0 against Watford in the league, their highest-scoring result to date.

With no Gomes this weekend, it is likely that the 26-year-old, who is valued on Transfermarkt at £25.2m, could next be seen in an Everton shirt following the next international break if the midfielder is also deemed not fit enough to start against Burnley, with EURO 2020 qualifiers being played from the 10th October to the 15th.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a big loss for Everton so far despite missing just three games, and with Gomes likely to be out for the Toffees important clash against an in-form City side, it could seemingly be another game to forget for supporters of the Merseyside club.
