Everton are reportedly closing in on a club record deal (which would) surpass the fee paid to Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku in 2014) for Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie.

Sky Sports sources are claiming Bolasie travelled to Merseyside for a medical today.

That comes the day after his involvement for Palace against West Brom, following that defeat his current boss Alan Pardew admitted he was likely to leave Selhurst Park with a £30m move to Everton mooted.

A deal for the 27-year-old is thought to be close with his fee beating the previous record held by Lukaku of £28m.

Talking of Lukaku a ‘slight injury’ was behind his absence from the draw with Tottenham on Saturday.

Lukaku’s absence further fuelled the speculation of his own return to Chelsea but with the added supply from the DR Congo international who knows how many more goals he could get if he stays at Everton? He might, or might not, want to leave Goodison Park but when all is said and done the final decision (whatever Lukaku might want) comes down to Everton doesn’t it.

A statement of our true interest for this season could well be to inform him he’s going nowhere!
