Pundit Expects Everton To Spend Big Again This Summer & “Cause A Problem” Next Season

|

With the curtain now closed on the 2018/19 Premier League campaign following Everton’s final day draw with Tottenham Hotspur in our first trip to their new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it’s all eyes to the summer and transfer business now.

Goals on the day from Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun saw us take a 2-2 draw but it has been a mixed season, even though we matched last year’s league finish.

With loanees to have their futures sorted, there will be players moving on as manager Marco Silva continues to rebuild the group for the future and BBC pundit Ian Wright feels that Everton will be one of the big spenders when the window closes at the end of the summer.

Speaking to the BBC’s Matc of the Day programme (12/5 – 10.30) the former Arsenal and England striker explained.

“They went through a spell where they kind of lost their way a bit, they got it going at the end. They’ve got a lot of money to spend and I’m sure they will do but look at Digne, people like that. Gomes, are they going to be able to keep him? If they can keep people like that, Everton are going to cause a bit of a problem next season.”

It will certainly be an interesting summer, but now the core of the squad are settled, there’s every reason to be optimistic that next season we can push on – the question is how much.
