Premier League sides set to BATTLE for Everton defender in January

|

Premier League outfits, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are set for a transfer battle in the race to sign Everton defender, Michael Keane in January.

Keane joined Everton in 2017 from Burnley for an initial fee of £25 million and has featured nearly 200 times since arriving on Merseyside.

He has also earned a fair few caps for England, playing 12 times to date and even scored for the 3 lions in 2019 against Montenegro.

In the summer of 2020, after some decent performances for the blues under then-manager, Carlo Ancelotti, Keane was rewarded with a new 5-year contract until 2025 [via bbcsport.com].

However, since the arrival of Frank Lampard at Everton and the introduction of the likes of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady, the 29-year-old has fallen out of favour and remains confined to the bench.

With Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey all returning from injury, Keane will likely drop further down the pecking order, meaning a move away could be on the cards.

According to 90Mins, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are keen on signing the out-of-favour defender in January, but Everton will probably try to recoup some of the £25 million that they spent on the defender in 2017.

Michael Keane’s time at Everton can probably be regarded as a failure considering the astronomical fee paid for him, but he has had his moments. A move away would probably be the best option for the Englishman at this point in his career.
