According to Teamtalk, Newcastle have enquired about the ability of Everton defender Leighton Baines.
The full-back has been a class player for us for a number of years but in the last couple of seasons we have seen him start to decline.
It comes to even the best players and despite his technique still being there, that capability to bomb up and down the left side is no longer there in earnest.
Newcastle, then, have enquired about the player and I’d have thought if and when Lucas Digne comes in we’ll be open to letting him go for the right sort of price.
The Verdict
We’ve got some young defenders coming through and some potentially coming in so it seems Baines’ time at the club is coming to an end.
Of course, he might still be kept on for experience but it seems to me that Silva wants to make a mark and that could involve shipping out the old guard.
