With a few players taking the headlines following Everton’s pre-season defeat to Porto out in the Algarve Cup on Sunday, one man was certainly taking the praise amongst the clubs’ fanbase on social media.

Manager Marco Silva made nine changes to the side that faced Lille the previous day in the pre-season warmup tournament and only goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and Sandro Ramirez featured in both matches.

27-year-old Cenk Tosun led the lineup front and the former Besiktas attacker continued to impress fans with his performance, even if he didn’t manage to get himself on the scoresheet this time around.

Having really found his feet at Goodison Park as the 2017/18 season drew to a close following his arrival in the January window and his need to get fitness up to speed, the reported £27million capture ended the season with five goals in 12 appearances and two substitute showings, so optimism has been high that we really would see the best of him this year.
