Over the course of the summer transfer window, a lot was said following the arrival of Richarlison from Watford for a mega-money fee. Despite his critics, the Brazilian starlet has enjoyed a tremendous start to life as a Toffee, silencing his doubters.

If anyone questioned the ambition of the Everton hierarchy, they need not look further than the decision to pay a potential fee of £50M for the services of Richarlison as an indication of the club’s aspiration. Naturally, such a substantial fee evokes considerable discussion, most of which was centred around the club’s decision to invest heavily in a player who had only scored five Premier League goals before joining the club.

That said, and despite those who lambasted the signing, the 21-year-old has adapted seamlessly to Everton life, scoring three goals in our first two games of the season. A brace against Wolves on the opening weekend of the new league campaign was followed by another man of the match display against the Saints, where he scored the decisive goal.

Without question, it’s important to note that we shouldn’t overestimate his potential influence this term, after all, we’ve only played two games of the new season. However, such an electric start warrants admiration, and it almost feels that the Brazilian has been with the club for a long time.

While Richarlison possesses the archetypal skill of a Brazilian footballer, he also flaunts good strength and fantastic aerial ability, as was on display against Southampton. He is also interchangeable; he can operate in almost every attacking position, which could be of great benefit to us this season.

At the age of 21, he has enough time to continue to develop his game and attain experience, and while it may take time for him to become a complete player, the early signs are unequivocally bright.
