Our transfer window has been relatively quiet so far, as we’ve yet to complete a single signing. That said, the rumour mill is beginning to turn at a rapid pace, and we’ve reportedly submitted a bid for Croatia’s World Cup star, Domagoj Vida.

According to T24, Everton have submitted a €15M for the 29-year-old’s services, who is currently preparing for Croatia’s World Cup semi-final against England tomorrow. Although, it is believed that Besiktas are insistent on a €30M fee for Vida’s signature.

One of the 29-year-old’s primary strengths is his versatility; the Croatian defender can function in virtually every defensive position. In addition to his tactical adaptability, the Croatia international is respected for his capacity to dictate aerial duels. Furthermore, his passing ability is particularly impressive for a defender, and he is especially capable of blocking the ball.

As has been demonstrated in the World Cup, Vida is a threat when attacking set-pieces, an asset that could be of exceptional use to us in the forthcoming season. While his discipline does require improvement, I firmly believe that he would be a solid acquisition.
