Everton have been fighting for consistency under Marco Silva and numerous positive signs have emerged from their campaign thus far.
The Toffees have established an impressive defensive line with Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Kurt Zouma all competing for a starting spot at Goodison Park – although rumours suggest another central defender could be drafted in.
Manchester United’s Chris Smalling sees his current deal at Old Trafford expire at the end of the season, with it extremely unlikely he will extend his deal with the Red Devils, and Everton are reported to be monitoring the situation.
It is not exactly clear where Smalling would fit into the defence due to the aforementioned trio, although Zouma’s spell is just a loan, and fans may well be left scratching their heads at a report that does not really lead to any excitement.
