Many Everton fans have been debating whether or not England boss Gareth Southgate should consider dropping Jordan Pickford ahead of this summer’s Euro 2020.
Pickford has been a mainstay at Goodison Park and for the Three Lions in recent years, and some Toffees supporters have suggested that the 25-year-old now believes he is ‘untouchable’ and has become complacent as a result.
The former Sunderland shot-stopper has not missed a Premier League fixture since his £25m, rising to £30million, arrival on Merseyside in 2017, starting all 100 top-flight appearances for the Blues and playing the full 90 minutes each time he steps out onto the field.
Southgate benched Pickford for England’s most recent fixture, with Burnley’s Nick Pope opening the Three Lions’ final European qualifier as they beat Kosovo 4-0 on November 17.
Pickford had started England’s previous ten matches in all competitions, and had been the Three Lion’s number one since making his debut in an international friendly with Germany in November 2017.
Everton fans have been debating whether or not Pickford still deserves his status as first-choice ‘keeper for club and country after his horrific blunder during Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.
The £100,000-per-week shot-stopper will have known he ought to have done more to prevent Florian Lejeune’s 94th-minute equaliser, having been stood well behind his line as the French centre-half fired home to snag a stoppage-time brace.

If it was chosen souly on recent performances and not status he should be dropped

Pickfords biggest problem is inside his head. His ego and attitude stinks. He’s been dreadful this season we concede a lot from set pieces as he never goes and claims it and don’t get me starting on his kicking. We’re going to need to widen the pitch at this rate

Totally agree, he needs to get back to the player who earned that shirt. Now he believes he’s untouchable, he had better look in the mirror and over his shoulder.

Yes Pickford an excellent goalkeeper but gone too big headed needs sorting out. Know he’s our goalkeeper but sadly I’d like to see Henderson be given England’s No.1. Pickford let himself down.

First one I’d look to move on in the summer, just don’t think his mentality is right for us

Nick Pope in the mix also. Maybe Pickford does need his place waving in front of him. He’s been too comfortable for club and country for too long.

Henderson has made so many mistakes 😂😂😂 Pickford gets slagged off by our fans for doing nothing wrong embarrassing

Both same level at this point imo. Still pickford he’s got the experience

He’s not better than Pickford, possibly both on the same level but Southgate will keep with Pickford because he’s been in the main, consistent for England

In other Everton news, the club have been named in a three-way battle for a £20m, 21-goal forward.
