Bryan Oviedo is inching closer and closer to a return following his double-leg break in January playing for Everton against Stevenage.

The 24-year-old defender suffered the injury during the opening 20 minutes of the FA Cup clash.

The Costa Rican international was desperate to return to fitness to be involved in the World Cup in Brazil, but a return in such a short space of time was always unlikely.

His focus now turns to returning to action for Everton, but he has already received a lift by returning to training with the team.

“It`s been a long time, Seven months not training with the team has been very difficult for me because I love it. But then when you start again you forget everything. he told the Echo.

He continued: “Now I just want to train every day and be ready in a couple of weeks.

“My first focus was to try and make the World Cup. I knew it would be difficult even if it was a dream but OK it didn`t happen. Now my only focus is to be back with the first team. To stay with the squad and play a lot of games. I enjoyed last season but I want to be better this season. That`s the goal.”
