Seamus Coleman has come in for a lot of criticism from supporters this season and even lost his place due to poor form earlier in the campaign, but he turned in an impressive performance for Everton in their 1-0 Boxing Day win over Burnley that earned him a lot of praise on social media.
The 31-year-old was operating in a makeshift centre-back role alongside Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate and helped Everton keep their second consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League. Coleman was strong in the air, saw a lot of the ball and frequently carried the ball from deep into attacking areas.
Brilliant on the ball. Proper prime Coleman.

I'll take that, a game we wouldn't have won a few week's ago. Bernard, Coleman and Sidibe all excellent! #EFC #COYB

All about the 3 points today, clean sheet was a bonus. Coleman and Bernard our best players today. Digne still not fully fit IMO. Move onto Newcastle now.#EFC

Against Burnley, the Republic of Ireland international played for 90 minutes, made 84 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 80.7% of his 62 passes, had one shot, whipped in one cross, made two clearances, drew two fouls and made three successful dribbles.
Coleman has made only three league appearances since the start of October, having lost his place in the side following a red card in Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley (October 5), but he’s proving his worth to new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
