At 31-years-of-age Leon Osman is on the brink of winning his first international cap for England.

The Everton man has been included in England manager Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for the game against Sweden in Stockholm.

Osman joins Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka who have kept their respected places in the England set-up.

But it was Osman’s inclusion that took the headlines much to the delight of Evertonians everywhere.

“He`s a player that I`ve admired since I came back to Fulham five years ago.’ the England boss told the media.

He continued: “He has always done extremely well whenever I`ve played Everton or watched Everton. He`s faced great competition in the position that he plays, but on this occasion we`ve got the opportunity and the space to bring Leon into the team.

“It will be great to meet him and work with him for a couple of days and see how he fits in with what we`re trying to do at international level.”
