Shani Tarashaj has an uncertain future this summer, with the Liverpool Echo expecting him to be offloaded. The 24-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at Everton and has spent the season on loan at Grasshopper Club Zürich. Tarashaj has a buying option attached to his contract, but it may not be triggered.

The Swiss international has struggled for playing time due to injury woes this season, making only eight Super League appearances. He’s failed to score or make an assist from 158 minutes of football, spending the majority of the campaign sidelined with a foot problem and being suspended.

Tarashaj has racked up only 11 minutes of league football in nearly two months and may find his career at a crossroads when he returns to Everton over the summer. The centre-forward has one year remaining on his deal at Goodison Park but it’s hard to see him staying given his lack of impact and fitness problems.

The 24-year-old was signed from Grasshoppers in 2016, has yet to make his debut for Everton, and could be on his way out without making a single senior appearance. Transfermarkt say Tarashaj has turned out twice for the u23s. This season couldn’t have gone worse for his chances of forging a permanent move back to Grasshoppers or convincing Everton that he’s worth retaining.
