Opinion: Marco Silva should sell £15k-per-week Everton man this summer

|

Shani Tarashaj has an uncertain future this summer after struggling for form, fitness and playing time last season. The £15k-per-week forward re-joined his old club Grasshoppers on loan after falling down the pecking order at Everton, but he may be stuck at Goodison Park as he didn’t do enough at the Stadion Letzigrund to convince the Swiss side to re-sign him permanently.

Everton signed Tarashaj from Grasshoppers on January 7, 2016. The 24-year-old hasn’t made a single appearance for the first-team, instead turning out for the reserves on two occasions. Tarashaj has twice been loaned out to Grasshoppers (January 8, 2016 – June 30, 2016) (July 19, 2018 – June 30, 2019) and played for Eintracht Frankfurt in between (August 31, 2016 – June 30, 2017).

The Swiss international scored and created six goals in 15 league appearances in his second stint at the club, but his form spiralled after that. At Frankfurt, Tarashaj netted just once in 15 games. In his third stint at Grasshoppers, he failed to score in the Super League. In fact, the 24-year-old has bagged just two senior goals since March 2016.

Marco Silva has to sell the out-of-form striker as he’s behind the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Cenk Tosun and Richarlison in the pecking order. Finding a suitor may be difficult, however, given his scoring woes.
