Ademola Lookman may have an uncertain future at Everton. The 21-year-old has been short of form and playing time at Goodison Park and may be on the move this summer – RB Leipzig have lodged a £22.5m bid. He’s made 48 appearances since his 2017-move from Charlton Athletic, scoring just four goals.
Lookman could have left Everton in 2018, but Leipzig saw their £22m offer rejected – a decision that backfired as the England u21 international struggled for consistency in 2018/19. Marco Silva even admitted Lookman wasn’t always at his best in training and needed to improve.
Leipzig are looking to capitalise on the situation after Lookman’s successful loan spell in Germany, but Everton have a difficult decision to make. The Toffees want to lower the wage bill and average age in the squad, but Lookman’s poor form is likely to see him on the periphery in 2019/20.
The £23k-per-week man should be the perfect player for Marcel Brands, but he’s not performing well enough to feature under Silva. A loan move away would be an option to help recapture his form, but Leipzig want Lookman on a permanent deal and have made a tempting offer this summer.
