Everton are stepping up their pursuit for a new centre-forward this summer, with the Toffees showing interest in Haris Seferovic. The Benfica striker has said he’s ready for a new challenge after contributing 36 goals last season, but his arrival could spell the end for Cenk Tosun.

The £60k-per-week man has an uncertain future at Goodison Park after falling down the pecking order last season. Tosun joined Everton in January 2018 and had a decent debut campaign (five goals in 14 Premier League games), but his form in 2018/19 was woeful (three goals in 25 Premier League games).

Tosun is deemed surplus to requirements with the Toffees, but he’s currently injured and may struggle finding a suitor. Everton paid £27m for the Turkish international 18 months ago and are unlikely to get even half of what they previously paid.

Despite being available for sale, the striker still wants to stay at Everton next season. He’s willing to fight Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a place up front, but Marco Silva may axe Tosun if he can bring in another striker this summer. Whether that’s Seferovic remains to be seen, but the Blues are looking to bring in a new face to replace the 28-year-old.
