Opinion: Jordan Pickford may have a big problem at Everton, latest report is a blow

Jordan Pickford has been a regular between the sticks for Everton over the last two seasons, but his place in the side may be up for grabs. The 30-year-old wants to leave Barcelona due to a lack of playing time, so he’d surely only be joining Everton if he was given reassurances by Marco Silva?

Since Pickford’s move from Sunderland in 2017, he’s made 86 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees, conceding 120 goals and keeping 26 clean sheets. The Dutch international is expected to leave this summer, but it’s hard to see Everton procuring his signature.

Pickford has a bright future and won’t want to play second fiddle at Goodison Park if a new shot-stopper is brought in. Cillessen won’t leave Barcelona to be on the periphery with his new club either. Would Silva really sign the Dutchman and drop the Englishman? It’s unlikely…
