Opinion: Everton should sign £60k-per-week Southampton man to replace 30-year-old

|

Yannick Bolasie is expected to leave Everton this summer after falling down the pecking order under Marco Silva and will need replacing. The Toffees need to find a new winger in the summer transfer window and should consider a move for Nathan Redmond from Southampton.

The £60k-per-week winger impressed at St Mary’s last season and could be open to a move to Everton if it boosts his prospects with the England national team. Southampton’s struggles in the Premier League could also convince Redmond to move away from the South Coast club.

There’s no suggestion that Everton are interested in Redmond or that the 25-year-old will leave in the coming weeks, but he’s a player who should be on Silva’s radar. Redmond contributed 10 goals in 38 league games last season, creating 52 chances and making 91 successful dribbles (55%).

The one-cap England international averaged 30 passes-per-game with 75% accuracy, hit the target with 30% of his 74 shots and whipped in 76 crosses with 28% accuracy. Redmond failed to make England’s squad for the Nations League and may feel he needs to join a side higher up the league table to be noticed.

Everton finished eight places and 15 points better off than the Saints in 2018/19 and have aspirations of breaking into the top-six next season.
