Opinion: Everton should sign 30-year-old in January, five Premier League clubs are also keen

|

With Everton struggling for goals this season, a striker could be on their radar in January. The Toffees aren’t short of options with Cenk Tosun, Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Marco Silva doesn’t trust any of the trio enough to give them a consistent run in the side.

In the last few days, Everton have been linked with Everton Cebolinha & Rafael Santos Borre and are rumoured to be interested in Ogion Ighalo. The 30-year-old has been playing in the Chinese Super League since leaving Watford two years ago and has been in fantastic form.

Ighalo joined Changchun Yatai in January 2017 and contributed 44 goals in 55 games before switching to Shanghai Greenland Shenhua in February 2019. He’s gone on to score 10 goals in 18 appearances and is reportedly open to returning to the Premier League.

Would Odion Ighalo be a good signing?

Yes

No

Everton may have stiff competition for Ighalo’s signature, however, with Watford, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Southampton considering a move in January. The Nigerian international has little resale value given he’ll turn 31 in a matter of months, but he had a hand in 51 goals in 100 games for Watford so he’s a tried and tested centre-forward.
