Opinion: Everton should consider 20 y/o Norwich man to replace Djibril Sidibe and Jonjoe Kenny

Tottenham Hotspur have been pursuing Max Aarons for some time without ever agreeing a deal with Norwich City, so Everton should consider an approach for the 20-year-old as Djibril Sidibe and Jonjoe Kenny could be moving on this summer.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Everton have been on the hunt for a right-back to accompany Seamus Coleman, as they may not be signing Sidibe permanently following his dip in form since the turn of the year. Kenny doesn’t want to return to Goodison Park this summer either, so a new face will be required.

Atletico Madrid’s Santiago Arias, Olympique Lyonnais’ Bouna Sarr, Torino’s Ola Aina and FC Porto’s Jesus Corona have been linked with a move to Everton, but it remains to be seen who they’ll bring in. Under Marcel Brands, the Toffees have been targeting younger talent to replace ageing deadwood, so Aarons would fit the bill perfectly.

He won’t turn 21 until January 2021 and has already made 73 appearances in all competitions since rising through the youth ranks to the first-team in 2018. The England U21 international has had a hand in 11 goals.

As per WhoScored, Aarons has made 20 chances, completed 34 successful dribbles (44.1%), whipped in 57 crosses with 24.5% finding a teammate, blocked 44 shots/passes/crosses, made 49 clearances, won 38 free-kicks, given away 21 fouls and averaged a tackle (34) or interception (22) every 43 minutes.

Everton may have to pay up to £45m to bring him to Goodison, however, so he would be a pricey acquisition. Whether the Blues could negotiate that fee down or add a player to the deal to make it cheaper is unknown for now.
