Opinion: Everton given positive omen to record second-straight win vs Norwich

|

Everton have been given a positive omen to record our second-straight win in the Premier League this Saturday after beating Southampton last time out, as it has been announced that Anthony Taylor will referee our clash with Norwich City.

We are yet to win two on the bounce in the top-flight this term, with victories over Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United all proceeding defeats.

During Marco Silva’s maiden league campaign at Goodison Park, the Blues were only able to record back-to-back wins on two occasions, which both led to the club taking three in a row – firstly coming against Fulham, Leicester and Crystal Palace and later against Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal.

Taylor taking charge of our meeting with Norwich at the weekend is a positive omen towards recording our first back-to-back three points of the term, though, as we have not lost with the 41-year-old in the middle since February 2018.

Since then, we have played four and won four with victories over Palace, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Wolves, and have only conceded a total of two goals – both coming in our 3-2 win over Nuno Espirito Santo’s Molineux outfit this season.

What will the result be on Saturday?

Taylor has not officiated a Norwich fixture in any competition since March 2016, although their trip to West Bromwich Albion marked the end to the Canaries’ five-game winless run while the Cheshire-resident was in possession of the whistle.

Saturday’s game will be Taylor’s 12th league fixture of the season, and currently averages the 13th most fouls per game of the 18 officials used thus far by the Premier League. He also ranks third for yellow cards with 4.45 per game and tenth for red cards, having shown one.

Taylor will be joined at Goodison Park by assistants Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, while David Webb will be the fourth official.

Darren England will be in charge of VAR at Stockley Park, where Scott Ledger will be his assistant.
