Oumar Niassse has spent the season on the periphery at Everton, but he could be in line for a recall after his performance in the EFL Trophy. The 29-year-old scored two goals in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Crewe Alexandra (November 5) and might be a solution to Everton’s scoring woes.

Niasse currently finds himself behind Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Cenk Tosun in the pecking order, but the quartet only have six goals between them in the Premier League. Everton have scored only 11 goals in 11 games and need a prolific frontman to turn their form around.

Whether Marco Silva is considering the Senegalese international remains to be seen, however. Niasse has scored and created 13 goals in 39 games since joining Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016, but his last outing came against Brighton & Hove Albion on December 29, 2018.

Should Oumar Niasse be recalled to the Everton first-team?

No

It would be a surprise to see the striker back in the matchday squad, but Tosun’s return to the first-team should give Niasse hope. Everton have scored one or less goals in eight of their 11 league games ahead of their meeting with Southampton, so it may be time for Silva to try something new.
