Jonjoe Kenny joined Schalke 04 on a season-long loan in July and has so far been a regular under David Wagner. The 22-year-old was on the periphery at Everton and found himself behind Seamus Coleman in the pecking order, so he opted for a temporary move away to get first-team football.

Kenny’s move to the Veltins-Arena is going well and Schalke are enjoying a bright start to the campaign too. He’s made three Bundesliga appearances for Die Knappen, having played against Borussia Monchengladbach (August 17), Bayern Munich (August 24) and Hertha BSC (August 31). The England u21 international featured in the DFB-Pokal against SV Drochtersen (August 10) too.

Schalke are currently ninth in the Bundesliga with four points from their first three games, having kept two clean sheets. They drew 0-0 with Gladbach, lost 3-0 to Bayern and beat Hertha 3-0. In the DFB-Pokal, Die Knappen thrashed Drochtersen 5-0.

If Kenny can stay in the starting XI for the remainder of the campaign, he could have a future at Everton next season. The Blues signed Djibril Sidibe on loan as cover for Coleman, but Kenny could be in line to replace him upon his return. He could be in a position to fight for a starting place too.
