Official: Everton could be without defender against Leicester City due to ‘illness’

|

Everton could be without Djibril Sidibe against Leicester City on Wednesday night as the 27-year-old is still recovering from an ‘illness’. Sidibe missed Everton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday and was replaced by Seamus Coleman. Whether he’s fit in time to get his spot back in the side remains to be seen, however.

How will Everton fare against Leicester City?

Win

Lose

The French international wasn’t a regular at the start of the season. He spent the first two months of the campaign as backup to Coleman, being an unused substitute four times and being left out of the matchday squad three times. After Coleman was sent off in Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley, however, Sidibe became first-choice at right-back.

He went on to make nine consecutive Premier League appearances and shone under former manager Marco Silva, but his injury setback is a blow. It gives Coleman a chance to impress and potentially nail down a starting place again, so Sidibe will be desperate to return. The club’s official update suggests a late decision will be made on Wednesday.

Cuco Martina was brought back in from the cold on Sunday, sitting on the bench against United. He could make the matchday squad against Leicester if Sidibe misses out.
