Official: Everton confirm latest contract extension, some fans say it’s ‘excellent’ news

Everton confirm Richarlison has signed a new deal, keeping him at Goodison Park until 2024. He’s only spent 18 months at the club since joining from Watford but has made a big impact on Merseyside.

The 22-year-old has made 55 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 24 goals. Richarlison has contributed eight goals in 17 games this season despite Everton’s poor form.

The Toffees are sitting 17th in the Premier League table with 14 points and 14 goals from as many games while having picked up just one win from their last five.

Richarlison has had a hand in 43% of their league goals, so it’s easy to see why Everton are so keen to hold onto him. The club aren’t in a good way, so supporters are surprised and delighted to see him committing for five more years.

The Brazilian international has operated out wide and as a centre-forward under Marco Silva, but results haven’t changed. After Richarlison (4), only Dominic Calvert-Lewin (3) and Bernard (2) have scored more than once in the league this season.

Could we cope without Richarlison?

Yes

No

Richarlison was alleged to have interest elsewhere earlier in the campaign, so Everton have done well to tie him down for the long-term.
