Official: Another Everton player is a ‘major doubt’ ahead of Norwich clash

|

Everton have confirmed that Bernard is a ‘major doubt’ ahead of Saturday afternoon’s meeting with Norwich City. The 27-year-old has been out of action with a knee injury since October and hasn’t played a single minute of football this month as a result.

Fabian Delph is a doubt to face Norwich on Saturday and Silva admitted Bernard was in a similar position. He said in Everton’s pre-match press conference: “Bernard is in the same situation (as Delph). He has started working with the team and it’s possible next week we’ll have good news about him. But, for tomorrow’s match, as well, it’s (a big doubt).”

How will Everton fare against Norwich City?

Win

Draw

Lose

Bernard has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, the last of which came against Brighton & Hove Albion on October 26. The Brazilian international was withdrawn through injury after 30 minutes as Everton lost 3-2 on the day.

Bernard has since missed Everton’s EFL Cup win over Watford (October 29), 1-1 draw with Tottenham (November 3) and 2-1 win over Southampton (November 9). Everton have coped well without the talented forward, however, as Marco Silva isn’t short of options – Alex Iwobi, Richarlison, Theo Walcott and Moise Kean are all capable of playing out wide.

It remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will make the squad against Norwich, but he should be back in time to face Leicester City on December 1.
