Official: Another Everton player departs on loan

|

FC Emmen confirmed the signing of Shani Tarashaj on Sunday afternoon, revealing that they’ve agreed a two-year loan deal for the Everton outcast. Tarashaj has struggled for form and playing time at Goodison Park and was expected to be moved on this summer as a result. As per Transfermarkt, he’s the fifth player loaned out this summer after Luke Garbutt (Ipswich Town), Jonjoe Kenny (Schalke 04), Sandro Ramirez (Real Valladolid) and Kieran Dowell (Derby County).

The 24-year-old has failed to make a first-team appearance for Everton since joining the club from Grasshoppers in January 2016. He’s resorted to loan moves away to get regular playing time, re-joining Grasshoppers on two separate occasions (January 8, 2016 – June 30, 2016) (July 19, 2018 – June 30, 2019) and having a stint at Eintracht Frankfurt (August 31, 2016 – June 30, 2017).

Tarashaj will now spent the next two seasons at FC Emmen of the Dutch Eredivisie as he looks to turn his career around. The Swiss international has scored just two goals in all competitions since March 2016 and has only racked up less than 500 minutes of top-flight football in loan deals since his move to Everton.

He didn’t stand much of a chance of featuring for the Blues with Cenk Tosun, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of him in the pecking order and doesn’t appear likely to make his first-team debut. Tarashaj is out of contract in 2021 when his loan deal finishes and it’s hard to see Everton handing him an extension.
