Everton have been joined in the race for Domagoj Vida by Liverpool according to Turkish journalist Turgay Demir.

The defender is on our radar as we look for some fresh ideas at the back and he’s certainly had a good World Cup with him going well for Croatia.

That, though, has apparently caused interest in him from others, too, with that lot across Stanley Park joining us in making an offer.

Demir told A Spor – via Teamtalk:

“Everton and Liverpool have made an offer for Vida.

“€15m (£13m) has been proposed but Besiktas will not consider a bid below €20m (£18m).”

Clearly, then, we’re in for a battle with the Reds if this guy is on the money and I’d like to think we’ll show some ambition by getting him in.

The Verdict

I’ve been impressed with Vida.

He’s a player who defends first and then does the rest second, ensuring that the basics are done well.

Certainly, I’m all for a bit of that alongside Michael Keane so let’s see if the Blues can get a bid accepted.
