‘Nowhere near good enough’ – Some Everton fans judge £18m-rated man’s performance v Spurs

Some Everton supporters took to social media during our final game of the season to share their thoughts on Cenk Tosun’s efforts against Tottenham Hotspur.

The £18million-rated striker earned a rare recall to the starting eleven for our trip to North London, thanks to Marco Silva’s regular centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin developing an injury in training ahead of the game.

It was just the tenth time, in fact, that Silva opted to start the Turkey international in the Premier League – accounting for 26% of the boss’ possible line-ups.

In return, the 37-cap ace banked his third top-flight goal of the term, to bring his overall Toffees account to nine in 43 games.

Tosun also played three key passes against Tottenham, although neither led to a third Everton goal, much like his other three shots – only one of which Hugo Lloris had to deal with.

The 27-year-old did help to cause problems in either box, though, with a combined five successful aerial duels, but the 2018 arrival from Besiktas did challenge for possession nine times overall.

He also won his only attempted tackle, made one interception and one clearance, but committed three fouls and did not register a single attempted dribble.

Given he scored upon his return but struggled in many aspects, fans remained torn over whether or not Tosun has a part to play in Everton’s future…
