Everton have now confirmed that our pre-season build-up to the 2018/19 Premier League campaign will see us take part in the Algarve Cup next month.

The pre-season competition will see us take on Lille and Porto at the Estadio Algarve.

The Lille game takes place on Saturday, July 21 and carries an 8pm kickoff. The tie against Porto also kicks off at 8pm but takes place on the Sunday.

With the announcement of the earlier friendlies, Marco Silva’s preparations for the year will see us face.

18th July, 2018 – Everton at Bury FC (Preseason friendly)
21st July, 2018 – Everton vs LOSC Lille (Preseason friendly, Algarve Cup)
22nd July, 2018 – Everton vs FC Porto (Preseason friendly, Algarve Cup)
26th July, 2018 – Everton at Blackburn Rovers FC (Preseason friendly)
4th August, 2018 – Everton vs Valencia (Preseason friendly)

With some fans not being overly impressed when the club confirmed matches against Bury and Blackburn Rovers, the schedule certainly looks more pleasing on the eye and is a more competitively balanced series of tests for us as we prepare for the new gaffer’s first year in charge.

That definitely came out in the responses of fans to the news.
