‘Not good enough’ – some fans criticise Everton midfielder after Sheffield United defeat

|

Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday and Morgan Schneiderlin was one of many players who came in for a lot of criticism from supporters for his poor performance. The 29-year-old started alongside Fabian Delph at the heart of midfield, but he was underwhelming throughout and could find his place in the side being up for grabs if he doesn’t improve.

Schneiderlin was substituted after 54 minutes against the Blades and replaced by Cenk Tosun. Before being hooked by Silva, the French international made 41 touches, had one shot, completed 93.8% of his 32 passes, whipped in two crosses, made one interception, boasted a 100% record from his four long passes, had one successful dribble and made one clearance.

He failed to make a single tackle or create a chance, however, which didn’t go unnoticed by supporters. Tom Davies was an unused substitute against United and has been tipped by fans to replace Schneiderlin ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Manchester City. Whether Marco Silva takes their advices remains to be seen, however.

That being said, Silva clearly wasn’t happy with the midfielder’s efforts against the Blades.
