With yesterday evening’s news that Everton had reached an agreement with La Liga side Villarreal over the permanent transfer of Argentinian defender Ramiro Funes Mori, fans this morning have been left massively sceptical about a recent media claim on the topic.
The 27-year-old has moved for an undisclosed fee and with fans reacting to the Middlesbrough links earlier in the day with a message of ‘Make It £10million & We’ll deal’ most probably made the assumption that this was the kind of price we had negotiated with the Spanish side.
As news of the move filtered through Sporx claimed.

20million Euros works out roughly at £17.5million give or take, and whilst some fans were incredibly quick to point out that maybe Marcel has now Brand(ed) us with his professionalism in securing a deal such as this and such a markup.

Plenty of others went instantly sceptical and simply couldn’t believe that we’d have secured that much of an uplift on the fee we originally paid – £9.5million back in 2015 – especially given the time he spent out with a serious injury.
I don’t think that’s right

No chance. Defo a misplaced decimal point.

Let’s hope it was Brands working his magic as that would certainly bode better for the future.
