Lots of Everton fans have been reacting on Reddit over the weekend to Marco Silva’s honest assessment of our defeat to already-relegated Fulham.
The boss admitted to the Liverpool Echo after the match that the loss revealed a major problem in the side, having been able to win three in a row against a trio of London outfits including Chelsea and Arsenal, but could not better the efforts of a team destined for the second-tier.
Defeat to the Cottagers also meant our wretched record of failing to turn games around under Silva continues, having not yet clinched all three points after falling behind.
Given we have conceded first on 17 occasions in the Premier League, and only gone on to draw three of those, this is one of the killer factors holding us back in the race to finish seventh and try to qualify for the Europa League via the backdoor.
Silva, though, is aware of the need to find a solution.
“Of course [it is a problem that needs addressing], no doubt about that,” he said. “When you have the obligation to go and change a result, and we haven’t done that this season, it’s something that concerns me.
“It’s something I’ve spoke about with our players, because it’s not something normal. It’s something we have to sort as soon as possible.”
The boss also noticed the drop in energy shown from the starting XI, which had helped to our wins over West Ham and the Gunners.
“Football is like that,” he added. “If you don’t put all your intensity and aggression into a match you are not able to win. They [Fulham] were aggressive, they were intense. If you can put the same in, then you can achieve a different result.”
When Silva’s words were then shared on Reddit, this is what some of the fanbase had to say…
