Newcastle United are reportedly ‘on the verge’ of beating Chelsea to the signing of Everton winger Anthony Gordon and a deal could be completed very soon, according to recent reports

However, both clubs were unable to strike a deal with Everton for Gordon because of the toffee’s £60 million valuation of the 21-year-old.

Anthony Gordon was, however, an unused substitute in Everton’s last fixture, a 2-0 loss at the London Stadium, leading to many believing that he could be on his way out of the door sooner rather than later.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are on the verge of beating Chelsea to the signing of Everton winger Anthony Gordon, with a supposed transfer fee yet to be confirmed.

There were worries that Amadou Onana might have joined Anthony Gordon in leaving Everton during the January window, with neither attending training at Finch Farm today.

However, Sky Sport’s Everton correspondent Vinny O’Connor recently confirmed that both Onana and Gordon’s absences were planned.

Although the toffee’s deal to bring Arnaut Danjuma to Goodison Park seems to have fallen on it’s head, seeing as Anthony Gordon has not been in great form recently, his departure for a decent amount of money could be a rare positive for Everton.
