The Scot underlined his intentions to break the dominance of the top four, insisting good management, coaching and a well run club should be enough to guide Everton to success this season.
However, Moyes was also quick to point out that he wouldn’t think twice about spending money, especially with the likes of Lucho Gonzalez, Manuel Fernandes and Yakubu Aiyegbeni linked to Goodison Park.
He told the official site, ‘The board have been great and trying to come up with money all the time. They want to see Everton improve. If there is money to spend I am certainly going to spend it.’
The news comes as several media groups have reported that Everton are close to signing Portuguese international Manuel Fernandes from Benfica.
The Daily Mail have reported that Everton have paid Benfica £6,000,000 for 50% of the player’s playing rights and are well on the way to securing the second half from Global Sports Investment, the agency who part own Fernandes.
The deal is apparently set to be announced in the next 48 hours.
