The Cies Football Observatory have been crunching their numbers again to produce the summer 2017 edition of their highest player transfer values for the top leagues across Europe.

Since 2012 CIES have been using their unique transfer value algorithm to postulate which players in the big five leagues in Europe would likely move clubs in a given transfer window and more importantly for the type of fee they would attract for a deal to go through.

The algorithm factors in variables such as player performance (minutes played, goals scored, assists etc) and individual characteristics (age, contract length etc) and factors in the behaviour of employer clubs and potential suitors given their transfer attitude over the years.

With growing riches in the game owing to television deals, the Premier League especially, transfer fees have rocketed in recent years and the billion pound mark was broken in the English game when it came to a single windows dealing and spend last summer and that trend is clearly likely to continue in the coming years.

That of course has a related effect on the transfer values suggested in this edition and CIES boast since 2013 a close to 80% accuracy in the correlation between values their algorithm estimated and sums actually paid for players.

For this edition of their research, again familiar names appear at the top of the importance and value pile.

Barcelona’s Neymar continues to top the table with a rating of 210.7 million Euros although that is significantly down from the January edition. Compared to January edition that valuation is significantly lower, but Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli and Harry Kane move into second and third place in the table, replacing Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba in the process.

14 players now take a valuation in excess of 100 million Euros compared to only ten back in January, and the English Premier League continues to be heavily represented in the top 100.

The full list of the 110 players they have listed in this edition can be found on the above ‘CIES’ link, but the table as limited to Vitalfootball applicable sites is as follows.
