It’s been clear for a while that Everton need to fill several holes in their dilapidated squad ahead of the new campaign. One of the ways in which they were expected to fund such a recruitment drive was with the sale of Moise Kean.
The Italy international spent last season on loan at Paris Saint-Germain having struggled in his debut term at Goodison Park. In France, he performed well, linking effectively with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, and netting 13 goals in Ligue 1.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian and Sky Sport Italia, at the moment PSG are not looking to sign the striker outright, as they seek to secure another loan deal.
PSG are still negotiating with Everton for Moise Kean. As reported days ago it’s only loan proposal and NO permanent transfer, no €40m bid as of today. 🔵 #EFC
The deal is now stalling because Everton want to wait for the new manager before deciding on Kean’s future. 🇮🇹 https://t.co/ddokCB9o6S

Another loan would be pointless for Everton at this stage wouldn't it?
Very unlikely he'll play for the team again if he's away for another season and another year will tick down on his contract.
Sell him outright or have him part of the first-team squad.#EFC https://t.co/HJvmMagQEo

Everton signed Kean from Juventus in 2019 for a fee of £25 million, meaning if they were to receive the amount aforementioned then they would make a profit on their investment. That’s despite the fact the 21-year-old only found the net twice in the Premier League for the club.
While PSG’s willingness to take Kean on loan for another season makes sense for them, for Everton another temporary transfer would be little help.
As noted, the Toffees are seeking to rebuild the squad this summer, although as of yet it’s unclear who will be overseeing that process; Everton are yet to appoint a successor to former manager Carlo Ancelotti after his shock departure to Real Madrid last week.
For the new manager, it makes sense to have the money from Kean’s sale as part of any transfer funds going into a crucial new campaign or to have the Italian, who did seem to mature and develop in his year at PSG, as part of the Everton squad for 2021-22 under a new coach.
If Kean was to go on loan again for a substantial fee, then perhaps the Toffees would be tempted to let him go. But any loan scenario other than that would merely be doing PSG a favour in a transfer window where Everton must be selfish.
