On Thursday, Aiden McGeady completed his Everton exit for Sunderland.

The Republic of Ireland international, who didn’t have a future at Goodison Park, has joined Sunderland, where he’ll work with his boss from a loan spell at Preston, Simon Grayson, on a three year deal.

McGeady’s fee was undisclosed.

Heading to the Stadium of Light he’ll link up with on-loan Everton pair Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning, at Sunderland for the season, along with Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo who left the Blues for the Stadium of Light last season.

During his time at Everton, arriving from Spartak Moscow in January 2014, McGeady, 31, was limited to just 43 appearances for the Blues, scoring once.

Another former Toffee was also secured by Sunderland on the same day as forward James Vaughan, who had dropped into League One to get his career back on track, scoring 24 last season at Bury, joined them for, according to the a reported £900,00.
